Batti Gul Meter Chalu Is Really Entertaining, Shahid And Shraddha's Exemplary Performance Makes It A Must-watch

The story of Batti Gul Meter Chalu revolves around Sushil Kumar Pant(Shahid Kapoor), a lawyer who lives by blackmailing local businessmen, Lalita Nautiyal(Shraddha Kapoor), an aspiring fashion designer with her own boutique and Sundar Mohan Tripathi(Divyendu Sharma), who wants to start his own business and resides in the small town of Tehri in Uttarakhand. Well, they are inseparable and their friendship is superb. Unfortunately, life takes a turn when Tripathi’s new business set-up gets a high electricity bill of 54 lakhs.

Director Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a movie which talks about a very important issue, a basic amenity and a fundamental right which is basically denied to the common man in different parts of the country. However, the movie needed a tighter editing effort, because, at 5 minutes short of 3 hours, the story becomes overbearing. Further, the movie is a mirror to corruption and everything that is wrong with corporate organisations and their governance. BGMC has a story which must be told.

Guess what Shahid’s character’s transformation really works in favour of him in the movie. It is interesting to see him strike a balance between the over-confident young man and the guy with a heart of gold. Moreover, his monologue during the climax is fantastic. While Shraddha Kapoor is excellent as she plays the role of peppy small town girl. Further, Divyendu Sharma looks perfect in the good guy role.

After Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Shree Narayan Singh once again returns with a movie. Well, he knows the art of displaying the heartland of India with a strong message. While Anshuman Mahaley’s cinematography perfectly captures the beauty of Uttarakhand’s hills very well.
