On Friday Virat Kohli scored a magnificent century in the 6th ODI to help his team beat the Proteas at Centurion. This was his third century of the series and 35th of his career.
With that century Kohli is getting closer to his hero and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
A few years ago, the idea of breaking the mammoth record of 51 centuries scored by Sachin Tendulkar in ODIs seemed impossible but this Delhi lad came out of nowhere and has already scored 35 centuries. Retire from Cricket
160 On This Pitch!!!! Take bow Virat Kohli ? What an Innings!!! You're All Time GREATEST ? Forget Bradman Sachin and all others! YOU THE BEST Cricketer I've ever seen.. — Gabbar ? (@The__Bapu7) February 7, 2018
Meanwhile, In Test matches too, the cricketer has established himself with around 21 centuries.
Before comparing the statistics of the Sachin and Virat it is necessary to understand that both the cricketers possess unique qualities and have made the country proud with their performances.
Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are the two prominent batsmen in the cricket history.
So the analysis is done to draw a complete picture of how they both stand in ODIs and Test matches?
In ODIs
At the age of 29 Kohli is around 1500-1800 runs ahead of Tendulkar. While he is the only player in ODIs with the average of more than 50.
Till date, he has amassed 9588 in 208 matches with 35 centuries. While Sachin had 51 when he decided to retire at the age of 40.
If he keeps on playing with this average he can definitely score more than 60 centuries and more than 20000 ODI runs.
In Tests
Moreover in test matches too, Virat has made his mark and has around 5554 runs in 66 matches. In test matches too he is around 500-700 runs ahead of Tendulkar with 21 centuries.
While Sachin has scored 49 centuries and has 15921 runs. The task of Kohli looks difficult in Test matches but with his current form, it will not be surprising to know that Kohli can easily surpass Sachin.
India will tour Australia and England in 2018. Earlier, in 2014 he had a bad tour in England with the average of 13.40 in Test matches.
Hence, it will be interesting to see how he performs overseas.
